The “DFLP”: The European Parliament’s document is a new victory for our people and its right to resist occupation
■ The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine described a memorandum signed by more than a thousand members of the European Parliament (24/6/2020) condemning the Israeli plan to annex the Palestinian territories in the West Bank as a very important political and legal document and an additional victory for our people's steadfastness and cohesion in the face of the racist Israeli colonial occupation.
The message was signed by 1080 deputies in the European Parliament, from 25 countries including 240 lawmakers from the United Kingdom, including 25 active legislators in the British Labor Party.
Among the most prominent names are: Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in France, Deputy Speaker of the European Parliament, the next Prime Minister of Ireland, Michael Martin as well as former British governors, a former European Union commissioner and former British minister. The memorandum was signed by former Israeli Knesset Speaker Abraham Burg and other three public figures support a two-state solution.
According to the memo, the signatories called on the "international community to influence Israel."
The Front said that the memorandum affirms the justice of the Palestinian cause and national rights, and constitutes support for our people's right to resist occupation and annexation projects, and struggle for their rights to self-determination and independence, and to return and preserve their lands from settlement and annexation. ■
