There is no denying that we live in dark and brutal times. Vulnerable communities around the world are facing the ravages of militarism and a savage inequality, buttressed by racism. Right-wing forces are ascendant, from Netanyahu’s Tel Aviv to Trump’s America, and many places in between, at the expense of most of humanity.

In these difficult times, we draw immense hope from the fact that our Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has become inextricable from a broad, growing global resistance to the far-right.

Please consider making a small donation to the Palestinian BDS National Committee, the Palestinian leadership of the BDS movement.

Firmly rooted in a commitment to the equal rights of every human being, and deeply committed to freedom and justice for all people, our movement resists every form of discrimination, including sexism, homophobia, anti-Black racism, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. From Standing Rock to Ferguson and beyond, we stand with our Native American, Black, immigrant, and refugee sisters and brothers, and these communities have extended their solidarity back to us.

As Nyle Forte, an organizer with the Movement for Black Lives who went on a Dream Defenders delegation to Palestine said in discussion with BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti at an event in New York this year, we are bound together not just in our common oppression but in our common resistance, and together we have “the capacity to invent the future.”

But we can’t do it without you.

This week is the 12th anniversary of the Palestinian call for BDS. As our round-up of what our movement has already achieved this year shows, the BDS movement continues to play an essential role in challenging Israel’s oppression of Palestinians.

You have joined and amplified BDS campaigns around the world. You have spoken to your colleagues, your family and your friends about the justice of the Palestinian cause. You know that BDS is critical to achieving freedom, justice, equality and a lasting peace, and that it’s an important facet of the growing global resistance to the far-right. And you have acted on that knowledge.

You have also helped us keep our lights on.

After 50 years of brutal Israeli military rule and almost 70 years of dispossession, enough is enough. The time for Palestinian freedom is now. After more than two decades of failed US-sponsored negotiations, which Israel uses as a cover for its “maximum land with minimum Palestinians” policy, it is clear that, unless effectively pressured, Israel will carry on denying us our freedom and rights.

Please help us keep up the pressure, and keep building on our successes.

No podemos negar que vivimos en unos tiempos oscuros y brutales. Las comunidades vulnerables de todo el mundo se enfrentan a los estragos del militarismo y a una desigualdad salvaje reforzada por el racismo. Las fuerzas de la derecha siguen creciendo, desde el Tel Aviv de Netanyahu hasta los Estados Unidos de Trump, así como en otros muchos lugares, a expensas de la mayor parte de la humanidad.

En estos tiempos oscuros, el hecho de que nuestro movimiento de Boicot, Desinversiones y Sanciones (BDS) se haya vuelto inextricable desde una amplia y creciente resistencia global a la extrema derecha nos brinda un atisbo de esperanza. Firmemente arraigado en un compromiso con la igualdad de derechos para todas las personas y fuertemente comprometido con la igualdad y la justicia para todos los pueblos, nuestro movimiento resiste contra todas las formas de discriminación, incluyendo el sexismo, la homofobia, el racismo, el antisemitismo y la islamofobia.
