Nayef Hawatmeh, Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, met with Mr. Salim al-Za'noun (Abu al-Adeeb), President of the Palestinian National Council.
The meeting was held at the Council's headquarters in Amman, where the two sides discussed the Palestinian public affairs and the regional and international situations and their implications for the overall Palestinian national rights, especially the Trump-Netanyahu deal and the Bahrain workshop called by the United States as the economic aspect of the deal, and in the context of the applications of US project to liquidate the Palestinian national cause and rights.
The two sides agreed on the seriousness of the American-Israeli project and the need to resist it in all possible ways. They also stressed that the only criterion for accepting any economic or political project, is to recognize the legitimate national rights of our people to sovereignty over its land and the establishment of its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 borders, as well as resolving the refugee issue under Resolution 194, which guarantees them the right to return to their homes and properties, from which they have been displaced since 1948.
The two sides appreciated the unity of the Palestinian national and official Palestinian position in the homeland and the camps of the diaspora, in the face of the Trump-Netanyahu deal ( century deal ) and the Bahrain workshop. They stressed the need to develop this position by working to end the division, restore internal unity and the unity of institution on democratic foundations, by going to comprehensive legislative and presidential elections for the Legislative and National Councils under the system of full proportional representation and hold a unifying session for National Council, that includes all, to elect the committees of the Council, its departments, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the National Fund in addition to draw its plan of work.
