A statement of solidarity with the prisoners of Palestine sick in the prisons of the Israeli occupation.

■ Since the beginning of the occupation of the occupied territories in 1967, the occupation authority has consistently used a programmed policy based on a set of measures that aim in its entirety to destroy Palestinian prisoners and their ability to resist in prisons, and among these measures is not to provide the minimum requirements for treating sick prisoners of medicine and specialized operations and deliberate neglect, especially those with chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and others. This is in addition to the use of various methods of psychological pressure on prisoners, as well as methods of physical torture, which constantly exposes their lives to the risk of death and worsens their health status.

Currently, there are approximately 700 detainees and detainees who are sick inside Israeli prisons, of whom 300 suffer from serious chronic diseases. This is emphasized by various specialized Palestinian institutions on the critical situation in which this category of Palestinian prisoners live, especially in light of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in the surrounding area and the possibility of capturing the prisoners inside Israeli prisons, in light of this inhumane situation, the European Alliance is going to advocate for the prisoners of Palestine with this urgent appeal to all international and humanitarian institutions and institutions defending human rights and civil society societies in Europe and other continents to pressure the occupation authority to immediately release all sick prisoners so that they can return to their families and receive the necessary treatment within their Palestinian environment and providing protection for others from the risk of death or disease, in light of the continued presence of factors and conditions that cause injury to various diseases.

We also ask the Red Cross and the World Health Organization to send an international medical delegation to visit prisons and see first-hand the nature of the health conditions there and the extent of the suffering.
